Wombat Ward at the Launceston General Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join our dynamic paediatric team. As part of the Department of Health, we are committed to delivering safe, evidence‐based, family‐centred care to children and their families across Northern Tasmania. In this leadership role, you will coordinate patient‐centred care delivery, provide high‐level clinical expertise, and act as a role model within a supportive multidisciplinary environment. You will contribute to service development, quality and safety initiatives, and the ongoing growth of a positive, collaborative team culture, with a strong focus on child safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable people.

The Role
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:
* Works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
* Assists the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides operational leadership through the coordination of the day‐to‐day patient care activities, including patient flow.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, full‐time or part‐time, day‐worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 12 April 2026.
* Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‐time, part‐time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$109,767 to $115,813 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Allowances
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Eligibility – Essential Criteria
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Current Working with Children Registration.
Desirable Criteria
* Holds, or is working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications.
