Position
Full‐time permanent role offering flexibility for remote work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fieldwork as needed, traveling across various regions of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and Australia.
- Manage a wide range of BDAR (Biodiversity Assessment and Reporting) and BSSAR (Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment and Reporting) projects across the state.
- Nurture professional relationships with clients in the resources and infrastructure, government and defense, residential, and aviation sectors.
- Lead and mentor fellow ecologists and fauna field team members.
- Oversee projects from initial scoping and client interactions to field flora and fauna surveys and final commercial delivery.
- Prepare research materials, conduct analysis, perform field surveys, carry out impact assessments, secure approvals, and craft technical reports.
- Assist in the creation of submissions and proposals.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations at the Commonwealth, state, and local government levels, as well as relevant industry standards and approval procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of practical experience in project management, field-based surveys, data analysis, and reporting, preferably with consulting experience.
- Experience in Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessments and offset strategies, including BSSARs, monitoring reports, and impact assessments (BDARs and FFAs).
- Strong vegetation community identification and botanical expertise within NSW, VIC or QLD.
- Existing BAM accreditation is an advantage; alternatively, a motivation and capability to become BAM accredited based on prior experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical ecological guidance on large-scale projects and technical supervision to junior team members.
- Extensive experience conducting ecological surveys in NSW or QLD.
- Willingness to travel throughout NSW, VIC or QLD for fieldwork assignments and to mentor junior team members.
