Technical Development Agronomist: Canola – Western Australia

At Bayer we're visionaries, driven to solve the world's toughest challenges. We're doing it with energy, curiosity and dedication, learning from diverse perspectives to expand our thinking and redefine possibility. If you're hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant minds to make a real difference, this may be the perfect place for you.

Overview

As a Technical Development Agronomist, you'll play a pivotal role in developing, selecting, and demonstrating Bayer's canola seed pipeline across key Australian growing regions in Western and Southern Australia. The ideal applicant would be based in Western Australia but able to travel to South Australia to view trials through the growing season. You'll lead field trials, generate technical insights, and work closely with growers and industry influencers to understand market trends and position Bayer's seeds, traits, and crop protection products as trusted agronomic solutions. This is a hands-on, field-based role where you'll become the technical face of Bayer seeds—building strong relationships, delivering evidence-based recommendations, and supporting the successful commercialisation of our varietal pipeline. Bring your agronomic expertise to a role where you'll shape the future of canola seed innovation and make a direct impact on growers, industry partners, and Bayer's next generation of seed solutions.

Responsibilities

* Manage and execute field trials to showcase Bayer's canola seed varieties in real-world conditions.
* Drive demand generation through demonstration trials and extension activities.
* Support the launch and pre-launch of new seed and trait technologies.
* Analyse data and communicate trial results clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Provide technical stewardship across seeds, traits and crop protection.
* Deliver training and technical support to sales teams, growers and advisors.
* Uphold Bayer's safety, compliance and stewardship policies.
* Build trusted relationships with growers, agronomists, researchers, and industry partners.

Requirements / Qualifications

* Degree in Agricultural Science or equivalent experience
* Experience in field trial design, site selection, management and reporting
* Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
* Ability to influence, collaborate and build relationships across the ag industry
* Excellent organisational and planning skills; able to work autonomously
* Able to turn technical insights into practical grower-focused solutions
* Experience with digital data capture tools or harvest software
* Understanding of trait technologies
* Experience using drones or sensing tools (e.g. NDVI)
* Understanding of farm financial decision-making
* Agsafe or ChemCert accreditation
