Newcastle Legal & Conveyancing is a growing, modern law firm with a team currently including 6 lawyers and 2 conveyancers practicing in company & commercial law, civil litigation, property, family law, wills & estates and criminal law.
We have an incredible opportunity for a talented commercial and litigation lawyer to join our team, handling predominantly commercial, civil litigation and employment law matters including contracts, employment law, building disputes, debt collection, NCAT matters and litigation. About the role:
You will manage commercial and litigation matters from start to finish including:
* Have carriage of your own matters;
* Directly liaise with clients and provide accurate and timely advice while ensuring client satisfaction;
* Represent your clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings as required;
* Draft and review legal documents and contracts;
* Handle a range of property and other transactions including buying and selling of businesses, share sale agreements and retail and commercial leases.
* Acting for both builders and homeowners in relation to residential building disputes;
* Drafting and advising on loan agreements and other security documents;
* Debt recovery in the Local and District Courts;
* Handling Employment Law matters;
* Contribute to service improvement by bringing your curiosity and innovative ideas on how to make things better for our team, our clients and our referrers.
* Assist in the growth of our firm by building and maintaining strong client and referrer relationships.

About you
You will ideally have:
* 2+ PAE working in commercial law or civil litigation;
* Strong negotiation, mediation, advocacy and writing skills.
* Good legal instincts, skilled in issue spotting and outstanding analytical skills and attention to detail, backed with strong legal knowledge;
* Litigation skills and experience;
* A clear, concise and pragmatic approach;
* A focus on positive client relationships and providing value to the client through your advice and service;
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
* The ability to work autonomously while also being a team player;
* Ability to prioritise work and manage competing deadlines;
