The Role:
The primary role of Manager Governance and System Improvements is to drive improvements to the state's planning system through ongoing system enhancements and good governance.
The Manager Governance and System Improvements reports to the Executive Director, Planning and Building and is responsible for supporting the State Planning Commission and its Committees and Panels to ensure they operate effectively and efficiently and comply with all relevant statutory obligations. You will hold the following responsibilities:
* Operate under broad guidelines and minimal direction to direct and control complex objectives that require highly innovative responses and solutions.
* Formulate policies and practices that influence the direction on key corporate issues, position the organisation to meet future challenges and enable the achievement of the Section's goals and objectives.
* Plan and manage complex projects where required, including determining and allocating resources and work priorities and motivating staff to ensure standards and efficiencies are met.
* Undertake complex professional activities that are broad in scope and may include investigations, assessments, planning and change and improvement functions.
* Prepare complex technical reports and correspondence for assigned programs, projects, assets, systems and/or services.
About You:
To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:
* Contemporary knowledge of the discipline and the issues, risks, trends and directions associated with the span of assigned functions including an understanding of related government programs and policies.
* Working knowledge of the South Australia's e-planning system and digital ecosystem.
* Understanding of planning processes and procedures and understanding of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and associated codes and regulations.
* Experience in managing the development of new technology applications and systems.
* Sound skills and experience in continuous improvement methods.
* Experience in the use of technology applications to achieve business efficiencies.
* Knowledge and experience to interpret and apply legislative provisions and complex system.
Desirable Qualification:
* An understanding of strategic planning, policy development, and/or development assessment.
* Understanding of Government policy principles and objectives, and agency structure and functions
* Knowledge of the SA Online Planning and Design Code and other relate systems.
Special Conditions
Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
Remuneration:
MAS3 – $127,859 max.
