The University of Queensland is offering two full-time academic roles at Academic Level B (Lecturer) or Academic Level C (Senior Lecturer) in the School of Economics, BEL. Two permanent, full-time positions based at St Lucia Campus with the possibility of Academic Level B or C.
Compensation
The University provides pay ranges; final pay based on skills and experience. Base pay range: A$114,000.00/yr – A$161,500.00/yr. Academic Level B: base salary range A$114,824.05 – A$136,048.72 plus 17% superannuation. Academic Level C: base salary range A$140,293.64 – A$161,518.33 plus 17% superannuation.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Level B (Lecturer)
- Teaching: develop new programs and course material, consult with program advisors and stakeholders to ensure courses are engaging and contemporary.
- Teach across settings and contribute to educational practice and curriculum design, including online learning and innovative methods.
- Coordinate courses, deliver lectures/tutorials, and undertake assessment and marking for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Maintain and improve course quality using evaluation instruments to meet industry and educational standards.
- Provide high-quality student service, including academic counselling and advice.
- Understand and apply University Rules relevant to teaching and learning.
Research
- Develop a record of publications in leading journals in Economics or Econometrics, with a preference for Applied Economics.
- Collaborate with colleagues and postgraduates on joint research and grant applications.
- Contribute to external research funding applications, including seeking, obtaining and managing funds.
- Present at domestic and international conferences and at other universities.
Supervision and Researcher Development
- Supervise Masters, Honours and HDR students.
- Oversee recruitment and onboarding of qualified staff per University policy.
- Address conflicts and grievances per policy and procedures.
Citizenship and Service
- Develop partnerships with industry, government, professional bodies and the community.
- Demonstrate leadership, mentoring and collaboration; participate in service roles and committees.
- Perform administrative functions and support other academic positions as needed; embody UQ values.
Academic Level C (Senior Lecturer) Additional Responsibilities
Teaching:
- Build internal/external education collaborations; lead programs and student cohorts.
Research:
- Develop/lead external collaborations and quality outputs; build teams and participate in discipline service (e.g., editorial boards).
Supervision and Researcher Development:
- Demonstrate supervision achievements; lead responsible conduct of research and supervisee development; foster engagement opportunities.
Citizenship and Service:
- Establish internal/external service leadership contributions.

About You
For Appointment at Level B (Lecturer):
Applicants should have a PhD in Economics or a directly relevant field by commencement and demonstrate:
- Growing teaching and research profile; active research program with publications in leading journals and a pipeline of in-progress research.
- Ability to deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels.
- Ability to coordinate courses and develop cutting-edge programs and course material.
- Ability to supervise Honours/HDR students; ability to secure external research funding.
- Participation in internal and external service activities.
