About the role
The Out of Home Care Coordinator provides leadership, supervision and operational oversight across the residential care program. The role leads a multidisciplinary team of Youth Workers and Practitioners to deliver safe, therapeutic and compliant care to children and young people on Child Protection Orders who are unable to live with their families.
This is an opportunity to lead practice, strengthen service delivery and support positive outcomes for children and young people in care.
This is a fixed‐term, 6‐month full‐time position based in Hervey Bay. Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise Youth Workers and Practitioners, including participation in on‐call requirements.
* Oversee daily operations, including rosters, appointments and team coordination.
* Guide care planning, behavioural strategies and therapeutic responses to meet the needs of young people.
* Monitor case practice and ensure documentation is accurate and completed within required timeframes.
* Coordinate and attend case reviews with the Department of Child Safety and other stakeholders.
* Ensure the safety, wellbeing and rights of children and young people are upheld in line with legislative and regulatory standards.
* Promote reflective practice and positive role modelling within the team.
* Support staff to build resilience and independent living skills in young people.
* Facilitate smooth transitions into and out of the program, ensuring emotional needs are considered.
* Maintain household standards and financial accountability, including petty cash procedures.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with government, service providers, families and community partners.
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements
* Degree in Health, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or similar (this is an essential requirement of the role)
* Current National Police Check
* Current Blue Card
* Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
* Current Queensland Driver Licence
* Ability and willingness to travel within the service region.
* Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours and provide on‐call support as required.
About You
* Strong understanding of child development, trauma, grief and loss and family dynamics.
* Sound knowledge of child protection legislation and out‐of‐home care frameworks, including the Child Protection Act (1999).
* Culturally responsive and values‐driven practice approach.
* Demonstrated ability to build and sustain stakeholder relationships.
* Proven leadership and team supervision experience.
* Sound judgement, problem‐solving and decision‐making skills particularly in complex situations.
* Collaborative working style and strong computer literacy (MS Office suite).
* Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI – Cornell University) accreditation (desirable).
