Deputy Engineering Manager
Canberra, ACT Based
NV1 Security Clearance Mandatory
Length of Contract: 23 Months

Overview
The SHFC Program is responsible for the provision of the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS) capability to the Joint Capability Group (JCG) Capability Manager (CM). Capability is provided through Sustainment under CJC10, and enhancement under the JP9101 Project.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and co-ordinate the JP9101 Engineering Activities in support of EDHFCS acquisition.
Provide governance that EDHFCS Capability Functional Requirements are met through the acquisition process.
Develop, manage, and maintain the JP9101 Engineering Documentation suite.
Provision formal Engineering advice regarding project engineering activities, across all relevant contracts.
Exercise appropriate Engineering Delegation as issued by the Chief Engineer IC3SPO; update and maintain technical risks for JP9101.
Oversee and supervise the JP9101 Engineering Team, delegate and coordinate Engineering activities, and facilitate the ongoing professional development of team members.
Collaborate with the wider JP9101 Project Team to provide Engineering input across all discipline streams.
Review and provide engineering feedback on contract deliverables in order to support the implementation of the EDHFCS solution.
Collaborate with the JP9101 Engineering Team, organising and coordinating workshops.
Maintain compliance of JP9101 Engineering process with IC3SPO QMS.
Assist in the oversight and coordination of other tasks as required by the EL1 Engineering Manager JP9101.
Qualification & Experience
Be a Chartered Skilled Engineer of a registered Professional Engineering Body (such as Engineers Australia) equivalent or be able to attain chartered status.
Knowledge of, and experience in the One Defence Capability System (ODCS).
Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering, or other equivalent experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in leadership and management roles, and an ability to coach and guide teams in the implementation of strategy and change.
ASDEFCON Suite Experience.
Experience in Capability Projects in the Defence and/or CASG environment.
Understanding of technical, logistical, and operational requirements in the delivery of capability, and knowledge of applicable Defence policy and legislation.
Experience in managing cross-functional teams of diverse technical specialisations.
Act prudently, ethically and lawfully.
Act in accordance with Government, Defence and CASG policies and initiatives, including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act), Public Service Act 1999, APS and Defence Values, applicable Work Health & Safety requirements, Legal Services Directions and the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
Act in the best interest of the Commonwealth, in a business-like manner and provide excellent stewardship of all project resources to maximise efficiency, effectiveness and value for money, constantly seeking opportunities for continuous improvement and to enhance CASG's future capacity.
Communicate effectively with line managers and Division Head, including consultation with them and taking appropriate direction from them.
Communicate effectively with CASG's Defence customers, supporting and
other related elements of CASG, and Defence and industry partners.
Employ best practice in the execution of work, focusing on achieving outcomes, ensuring that decisions are made by appropriately qualified and experienced persons, and taking judicious risks.
Provide clarity on roles & responsibilities.
Encourage transparency and truthfulness.
Encourage collaboration and communication.
