About the role
As a Nurse at Kambu Health, you will play an important role in delivering comprehensive, culturally safe health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Working under the direction of a Clinic Manager and as part of a multidisciplinary team, your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the delivery of holistic, person-centred care that reflects the cultural, social, and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
Assisting in health checks, chronic disease management, immunisations, wound care, and other nursing procedures within scope of practice.
Promoting health literacy and supporting self-management through culturally appropriate education and health promotion activities.
Building strong, respectful relationships with clients, families, and communities to foster trust and continuity of care.
Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation using electronic health systems.
Collaborating with Aboriginal Health Workers, GPs, Allied Health, and external providers to support coordinated, wrap-around care.
Participating in community programs and events, group health initiatives, and clinics that reflect community-identified needs.
Contributing to continuous quality improvement and adhering to clinical governance, infection control, and safety standards relevant to ACCHOs.
Upholding the values of self-determination, cultural respect, and community empowerment in all aspects of practice.
About the Successful Applicant
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Minimum of five (5) years experiences as a RN working within primary health care, community health, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health services.
Strong clinical skills in areas such as wound care, immunisations, health assessments, and chronic disease support (in line with your scope of practice).
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully with Aboriginal Health Workers, Registered Nurses, GPs, and other health professionals.
Proficiency in using clinical software and electronic medical records
Demonstrated application of all privacy, confidentiality, and professional boundaries, especially in community settings.
