Responsibilities
* Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
* Diagnose and repair faults in vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
* Change, repair or replace worn and faulty parts and components of automotive systems, including fuel, brake, steering and suspension systems, transmissions, differentials, drive axles and shafts, emission control and exhaust systems, engines and electrical, cooling and climate control systems by using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment and referring to manuals as necessary
* Check motors that are running, road test motor vehicles, and test automotive systems and components using testing devices to find the problem in the vehicle
* Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, use various instruments to make sure they are working properly and put them back into the vehicle
* Diagnose, repair and replace engine management/fuel injection components
* Carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance to keep vehicles in optimal operating condition such as oil changes, lubrications and tune-ups
* Maintain a safe and organised work environment
* Provide exceptional customer service and advice
* Discuss problems with car drivers or vehicle operators to discover faults, listen to engines, fit, and operate special test equipment and test drive vehicles
* Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle conditions and future repair requirements
* Follow safety procedures
Qualifications
* Formal qualifications in Automotive Mechanics or relevant trade certification
* Minimum 3 years\' experience as an Automotive Mechanic, preferably in a workshop or dealership setting
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to high standards of workmanship
* Good communication skills to liaise with customers and colleagues
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* A can-do attitude and commitment to delivering quality work
