Patient Service Assistant – Far West Local Health District
Location: Broken Hill NSW
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (3 month contract)
Hours per Week: 38
Remuneration: $***** per hour + Super
Responsibilities
Ensure areas are cleaned according to Infection Control policies to reduce the risk of infection for staff, patients and visitors.
Perform general cleaning duties including toilets, hand basins, bed screens, curtains, doors and door frames; sweep, mop, dust, remove clinical waste, restock linen and toiletries.
Assist nursing staff with repositioning and lifting of patients and transport patients to various departments and locations as directed.
Attend to pathology, X-ray and prescription requests.
Service and distribute patient meals, water jugs and menus; set up meal trays and ensure patients receive their morning, afternoon and evening meals.

About the District
The Far West Local Health District is one of 15 NSW Health districts, delivering high quality public health services across the far west of New South Wales. It employs over 800 clinicians and support staff across nine health facilities, dedicated to improving health outcomes in rural and remote communities.

Selection Criteria
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of cleaning duties in accordance with infection control guidelines.
Ability and commitment to maintain strict confidentiality.
Knowledge of Manual Handling guidelines and ability to work within them.
Understanding of Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles.
Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Adherence to defined standards of ethical and professional conduct, consistent with the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
