Apply your tertiary qualifications and knowledge of hydrological analyses and modelling to undertake assessment of the Territory’s surface water.
The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment’s Water Resource Division is responsible for the administration of the Northern Territory Water Act 1992, which provides for the investigation, allocation, use, control, protection, and management of the Territory’s water resources.
As a Hydrologist (P2), you provide hydrological assessment and input into programs, projects, plans, data management, science communication and engagement to optimise outcomes to deliver the NT Governments strategic objectives.
This involves undertaking surface water resource assessment and reporting, ensuring consistency with standards for data and statistical analysis and hydrological / hydraulic modelling including water quality. You will provide technical advice regarding the assessment of surface water resources to inform management decisions.
As a Senior Hydrologist (P3), your primary objective is to provide specialist hydrological and hydraulic advice, project and contract management to enhance the assessment of surface water resources to meet the Governments priorities regarding water resource management.
Your key duties will ensure high level technical advice for sustainable development of surface water resources to inform management decisions.
In addition, you will consult with key stakeholders to ascertain ongoing information requirements and meeting these requirements by developing strategies, managing change and ensuring effective delivery of services.
Tertiary qualifications in Hydrology, Science or a similar discipline with demonstrated experience in surface water data collection, water quality sampling, resource assessment and the use of Hydrologic/hydraulic models and spatial tools is essential.
