About the opportunity
Mapei has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter Supervisor to join the team based in Wacol.
Reporting to the Production & Maintenance Manager, this role will lead the maintenance function hands-on, performing the full range of maintenance fitting duties while additionally taking responsibility for the planning, coordination, and supervision of maintenance activities across the plant.
The role ensures plant equipment, packaging lines, and infrastructure supporting powder and liquid product manufacturing are maintained to the highest standard of safety, reliability, and efficiency. The expectation is that the majority of time is spent on the tools, with supervision, planning, and administrative responsibilities fulfilled in addition.
About the role
* Performing delegated planned and predictive maintenance
* Analysing and diagnosing system/machine issues
* Carrying out assigned maintenance repairs
* Completing associated maintenance administration
* Plan and execute special projects and improvements
* Production assistance as required, with plant operation and raw material handling to be done as per the relevant Work Instructions
* Liaise with other departments where necessary to perform tasks safely and successfully
* Supervise, support, and mentor the maintenance fitter(s), ensuring work is carried out safely, correctly, and to standard
* Allocate daily and weekly tasks to maintenance team members based on priority and skill
* Provide on-the-job guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
* Escalate people or performance matters to the Production and Maintenance Manager in a timely manner
* Coordinate contractor activities on site, ensuring inductions, safe work method statements, and permits are in place
* May be a requirement to work after hours, typically Saturdays, Public holidays and some hours either before, or after regular shift start and finish.
About you
* Related training or training qualifications in metal trades, fitting, machining or engineering related discipline and/or
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a maintenance within a manufacturing environment, preferably with FMCG type machinery
* Team leader or supervisory experience highly regarded
* Familiarity with industrial environments and the ability to safely operate plant and equipment including electrical, and pneumatically controlled machinery
* Ability to analyse and diagnose system/machine issues
* Experience with PLC controlled machines
* Experience with safe maintenance principles and practices
* Demonstrate ability in carrying out basic mechanical repairs i.e., drilling and tapping, mechanical alignment, oxy and acetylene operation, and parts replacement
