Why is this estimator role for you? You are an estimator who is a bit stuck and you are treading water. Your boss has been in the company for donkeys years and personal growth is non-existent. You are doing your own tenders on new builds, you are comfortable in the role and that's the problem. You want more. You'd like to manage others, grow a team around you and have a seat at the table with the company leaders. An estimating manager role is ultimately what you want. In this role you'd be looking to achieve that within 2 years. You'd initially oversee 1 estimator and will be looking to hire another in 12 months. You'd work on a mix of new builds and FO's up to $30million though the builder is delivering larger projects from their QLD office so they have scope to do bigger. Software and systems are all in place so you don't need to reinvent the wheel but you will be able to tweak things and out your mark on it. You are the estimating expert after all. The office culture is friendly, flexible hours and WFH 2 days a week is on offer and you'd be in line for a bonus each year plus your birthdays off! Salary is in the $180-$250k package range bonus.
