The Role
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2026.
Merredin College is a lighthouse rural school providing a high‐quality educational program for approximately 600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our students live in the Merredin township, travel from nearby towns, and reside at Merredin Residential College. The broader community is positively involved and invested in our school.
Merredin College is seeking to appoint a dedicated secondary teacher with passion for Science, Technologies, Engineering and/or Mathematics (STEM) education.
As a STEM instructional leader, you should have an educational approach that promotes critical thinking and problem‐solving supported by a culture of excellence in your field of expertise. An interest in robotics is desirable to support students to engage in annual competitions. An interest in building the foundational skills in the primary years is also desirable as we strive to develop our students' STEM skills.
2025 has seen the opening of a state‐of‐the‐art, multimillion‐dollar STEM lab at the College. As the successful applicant, you will drive technological innovation using modern facilities and equipment.
As a skilled and experienced teacher, you should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self‐reflection. Another key attribute will be the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded, as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Merredin College in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary of $3 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
