Covenant Christian School is a distinctly and explicitly Christian Prep to Year 12 co-educational day school with 900 students, located in Belrose on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

ROLE STATEMENT
We are seeking a warm, proactive Prep Assistant to support our Pre-K classroom.
You'll work closely with the teacher to guide small groups, create meaningful learning experiences, and help children thrive socially, emotionally, spiritually, and cognitively.
Your understanding of child development and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) will be key in observing and documenting each child's unique journey.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
* Committed Christian of a reformed evangelical persuasion actively involved in the life of their local church
* Able and willing to sincerely affirm the School's Statement of Belief
* A genuine passion for Christian education and for supporting students in their learning
* Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or working towards)
* Strong understanding of child development, especially ages 4-5
* Familiarity with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS)
* Ability to write thoughtful, developmentally appropriate observations and reflections
* A team player who communicates with warmth and clarity
* A heart for service and a commitment to Christian values
* Current Working With Children Check and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
GENERAL DUTIES
* Lead and support group activities tailored to 4–5-year-old developmental stages
* Assist in planning and delivering engaging, play-based learning experiences
* Write clear, developmentally appropriate observations aligned with EYLF outcomes
* Foster a nurturing, Christ-centred classroom culture that promotes kindness, respect, and wonder
* Able to engage and extend on children's interests
* Collaborate with Prep team to provide general assistance and assist in child learning; take direction as required
* Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment, proactive to the needs of the classroom
* Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events
* Develop awareness of, and assist in the maintenance of, the health and wellbeing for all children by attending to their physical, social, and emotional needs on an individual or a group basis
* Ensure that the environment is clean, organised, safe, and secure
* Assist teachers with the care of students on school excursions, sports days and other, eg. Bush kindy program, etc.
* Be iPad or Windows computer literate
* Be willing to undertake Professional Development from time to time
* Liaise with parents only in the presence of a supervisor
* Show initiative in daily routines, transitions, and classroom organisation

To ensure compliance with NESA requirements and school pedagogical perspectives, implementing a child safe culture that promotes positive wellbeing for students.
* All staff have a responsibility to take reasonable care for their own safety and that of everyone else at school or involved in school activities

* In consultation with the Executive and other Administration staff to identify hazards and manage risks, especially those related to programs, activities, equipment and systems of work in your area.
