About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Enterprise Network Engineer to join our Digital Services department on a permanent full-time basis.
You will play a key role in providing expert support in planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimising all IT and OT network hardware, software, and communication systems to ensure minimal downtime. You will also be responsible for diagnosing, resolving, and documenting technical issues while delivering effective end‑user support. Your contribution is vital to maintaining the reliability of St John's IT and Emergency Services infrastructure, ensuring our people have the tools they need to perform their roles effectively.
What You'll Do:
* Collaborate with architects and key stakeholders to understand functional requirements and ensure network solutions align with business and technology strategy.
* Design and implement scalable, resilient, and software‑defined network solutions, including CISCO ACI, SD‑A, and SD‑WAN.
* Provide hands‑on delivery, configuration, and optimisation of enterprise network technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and voice solutions.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, supporting continual improvement of systems, processes, and overall performance.
* Contribute to the development of the technology roadmap as a CISCO Enterprise Networking SME, recommending innovations and enhancements.
* Partner with project teams to develop technical documentation, support solution deployment, and ensure compliance with architectural standards.
* Perform ongoing maintenance, upgrades, patches, and hardware refresh activities across the CISCO product suite to ensure system reliability.
* Support the successful adoption of new network technologies, ensuring smooth integration and effective utilisation across the organisation.
What You'll Need:
* Relevant qualifications in ICT or Security, with certifications such as ITIL and CCNP/CCIE (or willingness to obtain), and knowledge of ACI, SD‑A, and SD‑WAN.
* Previous experience working on both IT and OT environments, including design, deployment & service management.
* Proven experience delivering technical projects, influencing senior stakeholders, and developing solutions that drive business outcomes.
* Demonstrated ability to support the transition from legacy systems to modern platforms, improving efficiency and organisational agility.
* Strong hands‑on technical skills, including hardware troubleshooting, with a proactive and organised approach to managing multiple tasks.
* Ability to stay resilient in high‑tempo environments and work effectively within a motivated, outcomes‑focused team.
