About the Role
We are seeking skilled professionals to provide person-centered, recovery-focused support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. In this role, you will help clients build daily living skills, strengthen social connections, engage with local services and community supports, and develop confidence and independence for their future.
You will work across a 24/7 roster, including nights, weekends and sleepovers, providing flexibility and adaptability in your approach.
The successful candidate will have experience working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers. You will also have the ability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices, including risk mitigation, trauma-informed care and family-inclusive practice.
A tertiary qualification (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field is required. Additionally, you will hold a current First Aid and CPR certification and be able to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine-preventable diseases.
About the Service
The Adult Step-Up Step-Down residential service delivers short-term, 24/7 support to adults with psychosocial disabilities, helping them transition from acute hospital settings or prevent hospital admissions.
Key Responsibilities
* Purposefully engage with clients using techniques such as brief intervention, motivational interviewing and coaching, family-inclusive practice, trauma-informed practice, and conflict resolution.
* Plan and develop group work programs that assist clients to build skills, focus on recovery and transition back to their natural community.
* Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and providing information, education and referrals.
* Maintain or create referral pathways to local supports for clients.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
* Proven experience working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
* Ability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices.
