This role sits within a globally distributed engineering function delivering a large-scale, end-to-end regulatory transformation program focused on trade capture and reporting. This is a backend-heavy position, working on a business-critical platform that underpins how trades are captured, processed, and ultimately reported to regulators. You will play a key role in onboarding new products across FX, Credit and Fixed Income, contributing to the evolution of a modern, scalable trade capture ecosystem. The Opportunity You will join a Sydney-based team of experienced engineers as part of a broader global function spanning the UK, Singapore, and India (65 engineers). The program is highly visible, with significant investment and executive sponsorship, and focuses on re-engineering the full trade lifecycle—from front-end capture through to downstream regulatory reporting via third-party platforms. Key Responsibilities Design and develop robust, scalable Java-based backend systems for trade capture Contribute to the onboarding of new financial products onto the platform Work closely with global teams across multiple regions to deliver high-quality solutions Engage with stakeholders across technology and front office to ensure alignment with business needs Support regulatory and compliance-driven initiatives, ensuring systems meet evolving requirements Contribute to engineering best practices and modern development approaches, including AI-enabled productivity tools About You Strong experience as a Senior Java Engineer in complex, distributed environments Proven background in regulatory or compliance-driven transformation programs Experience within global markets / front office environments (FX, Fixed Income, Credit or Equities) Solid understanding of trade lifecycle and trade capture systems Exposure to Angular or modern front-end frameworks (desirable, not essential) Strong communication skills and ability to operate in globally distributed teams This is a fantastic opportunity to join a globally recognised markets team working on a critical transformation initiative, with the chance to make a meaningful impact on how trading systems operate at scale.
