School-Based Fitter & Turner Apprenticeship
NTHA are seeking a School-Based Fitter & Turner Apprentice to join our host employer's team while completing Year 12, with the opportunity to transition to full-time in 2027 upon successful completion of school.
This role is based in Salisbury, Brisbane, working in a large, modern workshop environment.
NTHA is a nationally registered Group Training Organisation that employs and supports trainees & apprentices by placing them with host employers for quality, paid hands-on training and experience.
ABOUT THE HOST EMPLOYER
Our host employer offers a great workplace culture, with a mix of experienced tradespeople and younger team members. The environment is supportive, hands-on, and social.
You'll be based in a large, well-equipped workshop featuring advanced machinery including lathes, milling machines, robotic welders, gantry cranes and forklifts. This is an excellent opportunity to learn all aspects of fitting and turning in a professional manufacturing environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a school-based apprenticeship, ideally suited to a Year 12 student, working one day per week (not Monday or Friday) while completing school, and progressing into full-time employment the following year.
You will work toward a Certificate III in Engineering MEM30219 – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Turning) while gaining hands-on experience alongside skilled tradespeople.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
• Operating machinery including lathes, milling machines and drilling machines
• Assisting with the fitting and assembly of mechanical components
• Performing basic maintenance and repair tasks on machinery
• Supporting preventative maintenance activities
• Collaborating with tradespeople, engineers and production staff
• Maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment
• General workshop duties as required
