What is the role?
The Cloud Services Team within the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Command is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of a range of cloud capabilities that directly supports collaboration across the organisation, delivering cloud based solutions to support operational and business outcomes. The team is a multi-disciplinary team focused on delivering business value and continuous improvement by leveraging innovative cloud based solutions.
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Cloud Engineer within the AFP to support public cloud platforms Azure and AWS.
Job opportunities will be available Australia wide, however some travel may be required for this role. Successful applicants will be able to work from the closest AFP headquarters in their respective state/territory, and will report into management located in Canberra.
Successful applicants will be required to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisation's reputation to effectively manage operations.
Role responsibilities of the team include:
* Driving an Automation first approach, developing and documenting best practices and strategies for platform maintenance and application deployment in a hybrid cloud environment
* Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
* Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
* Collaborating across multiple teams within CIO and the business to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
* Managing cloud environments in accordance with Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
* Maintenance and enhancement of platform architecture and sustainment of Public PROTECTED Cloud Platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services
* Ability to understand and troubleshoot terraform code
What will you do?
* Manage and administer Azure and or AWS cloud environments, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security
* Develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure and or AWS
* Assist in migrating existing services to cloud-based solutions
* Monitor the performance of cloud systems, identifying optimisation opportunities
* Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to cloud infrastructure, promptly resolving any identified issues
* Implement, configure and document cloud solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tool sets and practices
* Support cloud adoption of applications as they are being transformed and/or modernised
Essential Requirements
* You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application
* A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one
* Relevant formal qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution or demonstrated equivalent skills and experience
* Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure and or AWS Cloud Platforms
* Understanding of automation frameworks and tools such as Ansible and Terraform
* Understanding of governance frameworks and principles in a cloud environment
Desirable Requirements
* Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services certifications

* This position is an AFP Band 8 level.
* This role can be worked from any capital city in Australia but will report into the section based in Canberra, ACT.
* Some travel may be required for this role
