Our organisation is seeking a diligent Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) professional to join our Defence Solutions team based out of our office in Osborne, SA. You will support operational teams and gain experience working across various projects.
Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that sound health, safety, environment, and quality practices are identified, documented, and fully aligned to the key business objectives. You will collaborate with the business, providing valuable input to site teams to ensure these practices are understood and implemented.
The successful candidate will also support and enable our teams to maintain certifications in accordance with relevant standards, ensuring that statutory and contractual obligations in managing all HSE risks are met. An integral part of this role will also be to work on preparation, implementation, and monitoring of Federal Safety Commissioner requirements for our journey towards gaining accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
* Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders to achieve cultural change, with the main objective to achieve a Zero Harm work environment, and participate and provide advice in Zero Harm Committee meetings.
* Guide employees to report all incidents, injuries, illnesses, near misses, hazardous conditions, emergencies, etc., to their supervisor.
* Facilitate inductions, training, and competency assessments of employees and assist in assessing training needs of all personnel.
* Conduct regular toolbox meetings and associated methods of communication, ensuring safety talks and walks are a regular occurrence.
* Participate in safe workplace reviews, including hazard identification, assessment, control, and monitoring.
* Audit Zero Harm policies, systems, and standards, recommend improvements to management, and coordinate and develop process improvements and standard work methodologies to drive continuous improvement and process stability.
* Conduct incident management processes, including investigations and sustainable preventative and corrective action monitoring and implementation.
* Work with management and their teams to assist in identifying suitable work for injured employees.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will have:
* A minimum of 5 years' practical experience in a similar role preferably gained from the Construction and/or Infrastructure or Defence sectors, having worked in a medium multi-divisional organisation.
* Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety.
* Return to Work experience and/or Coordinator Certificate / experience and Internal Auditing and/or Audit certification highly desirable.
* Experience working with HSE management systems, in particular ISO standards, highly desirable.
