About the Role

Are you ready to drive meaningful change in one of NSW's most vital industries? We're looking for a strategic thinker and policy expert to take a leading role in the development of the NSW Agriculture Sector Strategy - a bold initiative to unlock sustainable growth, strengthen exports, and future-proof agriculture across the state.
As Senior Agriculture Strategy, you'll manage and coordinate a range of high-level policy initiatives that inform the direction of agriculture in NSW. Your work will directly support the Strategy's goals: identifying opportunities, tackling constraints, and delivering targeted government action to maximise the sector's contribution to a vibrant economy.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the long-term future of agriculture - from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities

* Lead complex research and analysis to identify emerging issues and develop evidence-based policy solutions
* Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and input into critical decision-making
* Monitor, evaluate and report on policy initiatives to ensure effective delivery and outcomes
* Mentor and support team members to ensure high-quality outputs and governance compliance
* Prepare briefs, Cabinet Submissions, reports, and publications that inform government decisions and reflect the priorities of the Agricultural Strategy team

About You

You're a skilled policy professional with the confidence to lead, collaborate, and influence. You have a deep understanding of government processes, a strategic mindset, and a passion for sustainable agriculture. Whether navigating complexity or mentoring junior staff, you bring clarity, focus, and purpose to every project. You must also have the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.

As our ideal candidate, you will bring:

* Experience in project management including the ability to manage multiple projects with competing timeframes
* Sound judgement, political acumen and experience in a public policy and program setting
* Experience in policy writing guided by evaluation and research outcomes
* Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
