Hunter New England Local Health District provides public health services to the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales. We have a diverse range of rural and metro sites and units so whether you thrive in a high-volume birthing centre or a rural community, we have rewarding opportunities across both that you can choose from, including:
Antenatal and post-natal units
Birthing suite
Antenatal clinics
Midwifery home visiting services
Midwifery Group Practice (MGP)
These exciting opportunities allow you to deliver high-quality midwifery care as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. You'll be providing individualised women-centred care to maximise health outcomes and become a crucial part of bringing new life into the world, offering support to women and their families throughout the pregnancy journey.

You will have the choice to work:
Out of multiple facilities or just one
Full-time, part-time or casual

Within a specific unit or rotate pending your scope of practice
On top of the National Employment Standards for all employees, you can enjoy:
NSW Health Rural Health Incentive package of up to $20,000 per year (paid pro-rata for part-time employees)
Salary packaging of up to $9k for living expenses plus meal & entertainment plus Novated leasing

Full-time employees are eligible for an extra 13 paid allocated days off each year

Rural Health Incentives
Registered Midwife Full or Part-time vacancies at Armidale, Glen Innes, Gunnedah, Inverell, Manning (Taree), Moree, Muswellbrook, Narrabri, Singleton, and Tamworth- are eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following:
Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $10,000
Retention incentive of up to $10,000 thereafter annually
Plus 3 months accommodation assistance (rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation)
Registered Midwife Full or Part-time vacancies at Scone- are eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following:
Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $20,000
Retention incentive of up to $10,000 thereafter annually
Plus 3 months accommodation assistance (rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation)
Plus Relocation benefits (expenses incurred due to relocation such as leave for moving, travel to look at potential accommodation, removal and storage costs, transactional and incidental costs due to the sale and purchase of a home, plus more)
Plus Family Travel Assistance (reimbursement of a return economy airfare to and from the nearest capital city for a family member that is usually part of your household per year)
All payments and reimbursements made to part-time employees will be on a pro-rata basis. Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary.
About you
We are looking for midwives who are positive, friendly, enthusiastic, eager to learn and can work as part of a team.
You will be passionate about women-centred care and thrive on making a positive difference to women, their families, and babies throughout the pregnancy journey.
You will possess the ability to respond appropriately and effectively to challenging situations with the ability and commitment to support colleagues and patients alike.
Your high-level communication and interpersonal skills, alongside your ability to build strong, professional relationships with your patients will see you thrive in these environments.
Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
