Lead Data/System Analyst

Canberra or Brisbane based.

Australian Citizenship mandatory.

About the role
This Government Department is seeking an experienced Lead Data/System Analyst to support the Information Management function within the Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD). In this role you will lead analysis and design activities that enable the rollout and uplift of information and records management capabilities across the Department, working closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose outcomes.

Security clearance requirement
You must hold an active Baseline security clearance prior to commencement.

Key responsibilities

As the Lead Data/System Analyst, you will:

* Lead and undertake complex analysis and solution/design activities based on business consultation, supporting the progressive rollout of information management systems across the AEC.

* Perform high-level system administration and configuration activities to support the implementation and operation of records management systems.

* Demonstrate administration experience in records management systems.

* Maintain current knowledge of the information management and system landscape, including whole-of-government expectations and industry best practice.

* Provide high-quality advice and analysis on complex issues; contribute to planning, coordination and delivery of implementation activities; and support team capability through coaching and knowledge sharing.

* Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, coordinating with partners to achieve work area and agency goals and representing the Department in relevant forums.

* Provide specialist guidance, training and reporting on system functionality and best-practice information/records management in a government environment.

* Make and communicate well-reasoned decisions, applying judgement, expertise and knowledge in line with legislation, policies, operating instructions and procedures.

* Create and maintain records and information in accordance with the Archives Act 1983, and other relevant legislation and policies.

* Provide operational guidance to team members and stakeholders on business-as-usual processes that support implementation and ongoing operations.

* Other duties as required.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong systems analysis and stakeholder engagement capability, along with a structured approach to problem solving and delivery.

Skills and experience

* Strong analytical and systematic problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex issues and translate requirements into practical designs.

* Minimum 4-5 years of experience in systems analysis.

* Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure solutions are usable and fit for purpose.

* High attention to detail and strong organisation skills, including planning and coordinating multiple work items and dependencies.

* Demonstrated ability to deliver to strict timeframes in a complex, regulated environment.

* Sound knowledge of information technology and business systems, including experience supporting system implementation and/or system administration activities.

* Experience in government information management systems is preferred but not required.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing clear documentation (e.g., requirements, design artefacts, procedures) and presenting to varied audiences.
