The Role
Onslow School is seeking to appoint a highly capable and relational Internal Relief Teacher to support school operations and maintain continuity of learning across all year levels (Kindergarten to Year 10). The position is a 6 month fixed‐term, full‐time role commencing Term 3, 2026 with the possibility of a 30‐month extension.
Educators looking to broaden their experience across diverse classroom settings while contributing to a collaborative and supportive school environment are encouraged to consider this opportunity. The position offers valuable experience within the Onslow context, with potential for extension into a classroom teaching role in 2027.
Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging, explicit instruction across a range of year levels and learning contexts, including the structured literacy and numeracy programs UFLI Foundations Toolbox, Spelling Mastery, Maths Hero, and daily review strategies.
* Support students across the school continuum, including young adults in the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE), ensuring continuity and quality of learning.
* Apply effective behaviour management aligned with whole‐school approaches such as Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the Berry Street Education Model.
* Build positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, and families through clear communication and collaboration.
* Utilise curriculum knowledge and an understanding of how students learn to respond to academic and social‐emotional needs, working with a degree of autonomy.
* Demonstrate reflective practice and readiness to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Qualifications and Experience
* Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* High level of flexibility, resilience, and ability to work across multiple year levels and contexts.
* Familiarity with UFLI Foundations Toolbox, Spelling Mastery, Maths Hero and daily review practices is desirable.
* Experience or familiarity working with young adult learners, particularly within the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE), is desirable.
* Knowledge and application of whole‐school behaviour management strategies, including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the Berry Street Education Model.
* Ability to reflect on practice, work autonomously, and respond to students' academic and social‐emotional needs.
