Salary: AUD40 - AUD41 per hour
We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic and inclusive team, specialising in the handling and transportation of scrap metal materials.
This role is vital to our operations and supports our ongoing commitment to sustainability and recycling.
As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of scrap metal throughout our facility.
You'll play a key role in maintaining a well-organised yard, ensuring that materials are properly sorted, stored, and transported according to company standards.
You will work closely with other team members to support daily operational goals and uphold a workplace culture rooted in safety, respect, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, and organise scrap metal materials.
Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure forklifts are in safe working condition.
Maintain accurate records of materials moved, including weight, type, and location, and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
Assist with managing scrap metal inventory to ensure optimal organisation and efficient workflow.
Follow all company safety procedures, wear required PPE, and actively participate in creating a safe work environment.
Collaborate with team members to complete tasks on time and contribute to a positive team culture.
Participate in regular safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Valid forklift certification required.
Previous experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a scrap metal, recycling, or industrial setting.
Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and forklift operating procedures.
Ability to lift up to 20kg and perform tasks in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to accurately track materials and follow instructions.
This is a physically active role that involves working both indoors and outdoors in a busy industrial environment.
You'll be expected to operate machinery safely, communicate effectively with co-workers, and adapt to daily operational needs.
