The Role
The Finance Manager plays a critical business partnering role, working closely with the Directors to manage financial performance, commercial outcomes, risk, and compliance across the businesses. This role is a hands on operational finance role responsible for compliance, reporting, reconciliations and coordination with our external accountants.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Management
* Act as a trusted business partner to the Directors, providing insight into operating performance, project profitability, budgets, forecasts, and cost control.
* Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, periodic reporting, and financial modelling.
* Manage monthly financial reporting including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
* Assist Directors with related-party and inter-company transactions.
Financial Control & Systems
* Manage the financial control function including general ledger integrity, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, company credit cards, and payroll.
* Oversee all finance systems, ensuring robust, efficient, and scalable systems and processes are in place.
* Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent financial data and reporting across the business.
* Manage and reconcile financial transactions across multiple entities
Tax, Compliance & Insurance
* Manage tax and statutory compliance processes, liaising with external accountants.
* Oversee payroll compliance including awards, payroll tax, Single Touch Payroll, and WorkCover.
* Manage insurance reporting and general insurance claims.
Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
* Establish and deliver regular reporting to the Directors, including board-level reporting, meeting support, and presentations.
* Maintain honest, authentic, timely, accurate, and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related discipline.
* At least 4 years' experience in senior finance/commercial role with accountability to business owners.
* Strong understanding of Australian taxation and compliance requirements
* Commercial and financial leadership experience within construction (highly regarded).
* Strong understanding of project delivery environments including project management, planning and design, procurement.
