This role is entry-level friendly with on-the-job training for the right candidate.
Position
The Shire of Manjimup seeks a motivated, experienced and suitably qualified individual to take on the role of Gardener, or a motivated person willing to undertake the necessary training to commence in an entry-level Gardener position within our Parks Operations team. This role is responsible for, but not limited to:
* Maintaining areas within parks, gardens and along verges throughout the Shire.
* Operating and maintaining plant items and the various associated hand tools and equipment, in accordance with Council Policy and procedures.
* Undertaking the daily maintenance of plant and machinery including the reporting of problems or faults.
* Completing high quality garden works with routine direction including recognizing faults and defects.
* Providing short term relief supervision to the Property Care Team as required.
The ideal candidate will include have:
* Basic knowledge of turf and tree management including fertilisers, pesticide and other applications.
* Ability to work under limited supervision and as part of a team.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Completion/progression towards relevant qualification in horticulture, turf management or recognised equivalent experience.
Gardener (Entry Level) Selection Criteria
The ideal candidate will include have:
* Ability to work under limited supervision and as part of a team.
* Ability to undertake physical work including lifting.li>
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* A willingness to undertake the necessary training across fields of horticulture, relevant equipment uses, construction and safety.
* Current LR class drivers' licence or willingness to obtain.
