Defect Manager (90M0664817) Broadbeach, Gold Coast, Australia

Salary: AUD160,000 - AUD190,000 per annum + Superannuation + Fuel Card


Our client is a leading Queensland-based Development and Construction company specialising in high-end, bespoke Residential projects that seamlessly blend luxury and sustainability. They are currently looking for a Defect Manager to join their team.


Position Overview:

As a Defect Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of defect identification, resolution, and prevention on our commercial apartment construction projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring that the quality of work meets industry standards, client expectations, and safety regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

* Defect Identification & Management: Conduct thorough inspections of completed works, identifying any defects or issues that require attention.
* Coordination & Communication: Work closely with construction teams, subcontractors, and clients to address and resolve defects in a timely and professional manner. Provide clear communication and regular updates regarding defect resolution progress.
* Quality Control: Ensure that all defects are addressed in line with quality assurance processes and that corrective actions are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of defect issues, resolutions, and corrective actions taken. Prepare detailed reports for clients, senior management, and relevant stakeholders.
* Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding defect management, ensuring customer satisfaction and high-quality service delivery.
* Team Leadership & Training: Lead and mentor a team of defect inspectors and construction professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure defect management best practices are followed.


Key Requirements:

* Proven experience in defect management within the commercial construction industry, particularly on apartment building projects.
* Strong knowledge of construction processes, defect identification, and rectification methods.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
* Relevant qualifications in construction or a related trade (e.g., Cert IV in Building and Construction or qualified carpenter).
* Knowledge of the local building codes and standards applicable to the Gold Coast and Queensland.
