We are seeking a Librarian to join the Research Services team at Curtin University Library. You will contribute to the acquisition and management of electronic resources and the institutional repository, helping to ensure seamless access to scholarly content for students and academics. Under the direction of the Manager, you'll work with licences, invoices, metadata, and systems, liaise with vendors, and support the development and execution of clear and reliable processes.
Responsibilities
Acquisitions: support the acquisition and renewal of information resources by analysing usage statistics, negotiating pricing, evaluating licenses, conducting trials, and ensuring compliance with critical timeframes.
Complete acquisition and renewal workflows in required systems including creating and maintaining invoice, licence and vendor records in Alma, and invoice and licence records in CiAnywhere.
Establish and maintain access to electronic resources, including troubleshooting access issues and liaising effectively with vendors and IT staff.
Institutional Repository: process repository records to ensure they are accurate, complete, and follow relevant metadata standards and comply with copyright, embargoes, and Open Access policies.
Assist with the technical migration of the repository system and creation of related support and learning materials.
General Research Support: contribute to the University's strategic research priorities through services including institutional repository support, research data management, publishing advice, bibliometrics, and research skills development.
Qualifications and Skills
A professional qualification in librarianship recognised for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association, supported by relevant work experience.
Strong attention to detail, with well-developed analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret, assess, and apply technical and procedural documentation, with experience contributing to the development and improvement of process and support materials.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within and across teams, engaging with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to achieve shared objectives.
Capacity to quickly learn new systems, adapt to changing workflows, and respond flexibly in a dynamic environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands.
Proactive and innovative mindset with a solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
