* Work Arrangement: Parramatta (this role is associated with both office and field work across the state. Attendance in office and field will be dependent on the business requirement)
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The purpose of this role is to carry out on-site and desktop compliance inspections to ensure that maintenance meets required standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as per contractual agreements. This role may require statewide travel including overnight stay where necessary, for the purposes of onsite audits.
Your expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in maintaining compliance with fire safety regulations and standards, safeguarding the well-being of tenants and properties.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Provide specialist fire safety engineering services and expert technical advice, information and solutions to a range of stakeholders on fire safety upgrades, issues, standards, policies and compliance requirements to support the development and maintenance of housing infrastructure.
* Review Fire safety related technical matters including Fire safety order, development control order, NSW fire and rescue complaints and coordinate response to external stakeholders to resolve issues raised.
* Develop, implement and provide innovative solutions to complex problems to meet the changing requirements of the business and stakeholders.
* Obtain specialist fire safety advice including reports and documentation in consultation with external consultants for alternate fire safety design and prescriptive solutions, to ensure compliance with NSW standards and legislative requirements.
* Undertake Quality Assurance Audits on Fire safety maintenance and fire safety upgrade projects time to time to ensure projects comply with NSW standards and legislative and government requirements and report on audit findings including recommendations on system improvements.
* Work collaboratively with external contractors in the provision of high-quality fire upgrade services to support the achievement of NSW objectives.
* Establish and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including Project Managers, Councils, FRNSW, building Inspectors and other Assets Division business streams to ensure efficient and effective exchange of fire safety information and advice enabling the achievement of unit outcomes.
* Exercise responsibility for own and others' safety in the workplace; comply with OHS safe work procedures, report any incidents and hazards and attend OHS training as directed
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Tertiary level qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil/Structural) or qualification and/or accreditation in Fire Safety.
* Understanding of the AS 1851, Australian Building Codes, Australian Standards, Government, or commercial probity and contracting standards.
* Relevant qualification in Fire safety or tertiary qualification in engineering discipline (mechanical or Civil/Structural)
* Sound exposure to class 2 buildings and fire safety requirements and performance against standards.
* Current driver's license.
