Zone Design is a South Melbourne–based interior design studio specialising in high-quality residential and commercial interior design solutions. We deliver end-to-end design services, from concept development through to detailed documentation and project delivery.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled Interior Designer to join our growing team. This role involves developing functional, compliant, and aesthetically refined interior design solutions in line with client briefs, project requirements, and Australian standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Consult with clients to establish design briefs, functional requirements, budgets, and timelines
* Develop interior design concepts, layouts, colour schemes, finishes, and material selections
* Prepare detailed interior drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD/design software
* Ensure designs comply with Australian building codes, standards, and WHS requirements
* Coordinate with architects, builders, engineers, and suppliers throughout project delivery
* Select furniture, fixtures, fittings, lighting, and finishes appropriate to project scope
* Manage design revisions and incorporate client feedback
* Conduct site visits and assist with design implementation during construction or fit-out
* Monitor design quality, costs, and consistency across all project stages
Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Interior Design (or equivalent)
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or similar design software
* Strong knowledge of building materials, finishes, and construction processes
* Understanding of Australian building regulations and standards
* Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
Experience
* Minimum 2 years relevant work experience as an Interior Designer
* Experience in residential and/or commercial interior design projects preferred
