Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Strong Men Leading Change Project Officer This position is well suited to someone who has a recognised tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Social Work, Health Promotion, Community Development or related field. With an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.

This position is for a male Project Officer, who will work primarily with male community members and young men from the Katherine West region in alignment with cultural protocols. Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders are encouraged to apply

Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

About the Opportunity

The Strong Men Leading Change Project Officer requires a culturally grounded male facilitator with strong relationship-building skills who can support men to reflect, lead, and grow. The Project Officer will collaborate closely with Elders, local leaders, men of all ages, and service partners to co-design practical, community-owned solutions that align with local values and cultural protocols.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

* Coordinate and facilitate culturally safe yarning circles and consultations across all KWHB communities to explore men's attitudes, beliefs, and experiences related to Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence.
* Provide community-based education on the drivers and impacts of DFSV, promote available support services, and foster understanding of healing pathways.
* Plan healing-centred activities such as bush trips, storytelling sessions, and cultural programs that support men's wellbeing, emotional safety, and reconnection to culture.
* Assist in developing a sustainability framework and roadmap for integrating successful project elements into ongoing KWHB programs.
