Ecologist Role in Environmental Consulting

At SLR, we create sustainable solutions. With a reputation for delivering high-quality environmental and sustainability services, our team has over 1,000 staff across various disciplines.

Due to exciting projects in our pipeline, our Ecology & Biodiversity team is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our Perth office on a permanent full-time basis.

This opportunity suits someone with 3-5 years of industry experience, who can hit the ground running in a busy consultancy environment.

As part of a large and expert team, you will be confident in your technical ability and provide high-quality service and advice in your area of expertise to clients and colleagues in both office-based and fieldwork activities.

This role offers the chance to learn directly from experienced professionals while contributing to meaningful projects.


Job Responsibilities:

* Participate in field survey programs to collect ecological data.
* Interpret and apply environmental legislation to projects across various sectors.
* Develop technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and implications for environmental impact assessment and management.
* Assist in preparing tenders and proposals.
* Integrate your technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams.
* Conduct independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions, and prepare reports outlining the findings.
* Travel to remote areas to conduct field survey programs.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

* An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field.
* 3-5 years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government.
* Experience in designing and implementing fauna field surveys and/or monitoring programs.
* Advanced report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality written material.
* Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
* Proven project management experience in relation to client management.
