Overview
The Company: Our client is an award-winning and highly established home building company in Melbourne's South East. They are growing in 2025 and are looking to hire an experienced volume home building construction site manager to join their busy construction team in Melbourne's South-Eastern suburbs. Suburbs and current job run are Cranbourne, Clyde and Clyde North. Work Schedule/Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm (with no restrictions on availability). The company aims to keep site managers in areas close to home to reduce travel time and improve work-life balance. KDRB and greenfield experience is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
* Manage several new home builds in construction concurrently.
* Oversee up to 10-14 houses in construction at any one time on average (depending on build complexity).
* Hit key KPIs, including build cycle time, site quality audit scores, and client handover targets.
* Maintain tidy, organised, and compliant sites that reflect the company's very high standards.
* Work on a combination of mostly single-storey and some double-storey homes.
* Allocate materials and trades to job sites.
* Ensure the timely construction of new homes within budget.
* Communicate professionally with clients, trades, and management.
* Carry out new home construction safely and in compliance with company processes and procedures.
* Inspect completed projects to ensure a high standard of quality.
* Maintain and update company systems.
* Report to management regarding on-site activity.
* Negotiate with subcontractors and coordinate on-site works.
* Identify and resolve problems throughout the construction process.
Ideal Candidate Background
Experience & Background:
* Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a Site Manager role within volume residential construction (single and double storey builds).
* Demonstrated track record of delivering homes on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
* Preferably from a carpenter or trade background with a thorough, hands-on understanding of building methodology.
* Hold current relevant qualifications, including White Card, First Aid (preferred), and a valid driver's licence.
Technical Proficiency:
* Interpret construction drawings, engineering plans, and specifications.
* Understand building regulations, NCC requirements, and local council/site-specific compliance issues.
* Competent with construction management platforms such as Framework Logistics (or similar).
Key Competencies:
* Time & Program Management – confidently manage multiple builds, ensuring adherence to build programs and critical path timelines.
* Quality Assurance – set and maintain high standards of quality at each stage of the build, including proactive defect prevention.
* OH&S Leadership – champion site safety and compliance, including documentation and contractor adherence to safety procedures.
* Supplier & Contractor Coordination – effectively schedule and manage trades to avoid downtime, ensure site efficiency, and drive accountability.
* Client Experience Awareness – recognise the significance of site presentation, professional conduct, and timely communication with the broader team in supporting the client journey.
Soft Skills & Culture Fit
* Be solution-focused with a can-do attitude, capable of resolving issues on site with minimal escalation.
* Demonstrate strong communication and team collaboration skills — working positively with Construction Managers, internal departments, and trades/suppliers.
* Be calm under pressure, consistent in approach, and take ownership of the homes under supervision.
* Exhibit pride in workmanship and represent the company's brand with professionalism and integrity.
