About the Opportunity
DVNQ is currently seeking Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Advocate (Level 4) to join our team in Townsville, QLD. As a Specialist DFV Advocate, your role is pivotal within DVNQ. Reporting to the Response Team Leader, this role provides specialist DFV support through trauma-informed risk assessment, safety planning, court support, case management, and referrals.
This is a Permanent Part Time 0.8 FTE position.
As a Specialist DFV Advocate, you will:
* Deliver trauma-informed crisis response, risk assessments, and safety planning.
* Provide feminist-informed DFV services and coordinate emergency accommodation/safety upgrades.
* Support clients through court processes and protection orders.
* Collaborate with stakeholders and partner agencies for holistic support.
* Champion cultural accountability and embed cultural capacity across DVNQ
What We're Looking For – Selection Criteria
Qualifications and Experience
* A three-year tertiary qualification in a relevant human services field and/or a minimum of 2 years' experience in the human services sector.
Skills and Competencies
* Knowledge of DFV and child protection legislation, risk assessment frameworks and trauma-informed practice.
* Demonstrated capability in counselling, case management and complex decision making.
* Understanding of the complex ways in which children are harmed through experiencing violence.
* Understanding of the complex impacts of trauma and intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
* Ability to skillfully and sensitively communicate complex information verbally and in writing, particularly when faced with heightened states of distress.
Mandatory Requirements
* Current QLD C Class Driver's Licence.
* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
* Australia: National Police Check Clearance – at organisation expense.
