We’re looking for a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join our established Portland team, supporting the delivery of instrumentation and control engineering across a portfolio of brownfield projects within a heavy industrial environment. This is a site-based role offering strong client interaction, technical ownership, and long-term project continuity.
The role responsibilities include:
* Lead and contribute to instrumentation and control system design, with a strong focus on PLC-based control systems (Rockwell preferred) and brownfield applications.
* Support proposals and business development activities by preparing execution strategies, estimates, and technical content.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and contractors to support successful project delivery.
* Plan and coordinate team workloads, ensuring appropriate resourcing, performance support, and technical mentoring.
* Ensure engineering and design deliverables comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in project planning and execution, contributing to cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
* Prepare and review engineering documentation including specifications, data sheets, and bid evaluations.
* Provide technical support to construction, commissioning, and operations through on-site collaboration and problem solving.
What you’ll have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering.
* RPEV registration, or the ability to obtain within three months of joining.
* A strong foundation in instrumentation design, including interfaces to PLC control systems within brownfield environments.
* Experience working in industrial process facilities; aluminium smelter experience is advantageous but not essential.
* Familiarity with Rockwell Control Systems is preferred.
* Previous site-based experience is highly regarded.
