About the role
* Maintain a safe, positive and enthusiastic workplace culture
* Ensure the machine shop and workshop equipment is maintained clean and efficiently
* Oversee the coordination and scheduling of projects to meet all deliverables on time while managing resources effectively
* Interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
* Set up, program and operate CNC machines (milling and/or turning) including selecting tooling, fixtures and cutting parameters to optimise performance
* Support and assist with all quality‑related requirements, ensuring products meet client specifications and compliance standards
* Act as a mentor and leader to the workshop team by providing training, support and professional development opportunities; promote a culture of continuous learning and growth among staff
Skills and experience
Essential requirements
* Extensive experience as a machinist in a precision engineering environment
* Proven CNC programming and operating experience (e.g., Fanuc or similar)
* Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
* Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Desirable skills
* CAD/CAM experience
* Experience in low‑volume, high‑precision or complex components
* Fitting experience
* Experience with onsite machining
