About the Position
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is for an experienced payroll professional with a strong technical background in end‐to‐end payroll processing, award interpretation, and reconciliations across a multi‐site environment. You will work alongside a part‐time Payroll Officer and a wider team of accountants, combining hands‐on payroll delivery with close collaboration across the finance function.
You will be accountable for:
Payroll Processing
* End‐to‐end processing of two pay cycles — a fortnightly payroll covering ~1,100 administration, practice support and health professional staff, and a monthly payroll covering ~80 doctors — ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness
* Accurate award interpretation and application of relevant Modern Awards, EBAs and employment contracts to ensure correct pay outcomes
* Processing new starters, variations, leave, allowances, back‐pays and termination calculations
Reconciliations and Reporting
* Performing GL reconciliations between payroll and the general ledger, including investigating and resolving variances
* Calculating and reconciling leave accruals and salary accruals, and preparing payroll reports for finance and operational stakeholders
* Reporting relevant payroll KPIs and statistics to frontline managers and key business stakeholders to support workforce decisions and cost management
Compliance and Internal Controls
* Ensuring compliance with PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, workers compensation and Single Touch Payroll obligations across all relevant jurisdictions
* Maintaining accurate employee records and supporting internal and external audits, year‐end processes and statutory reporting
Systems and Process Support
* Acting as a key user across payroll and workforce systems — Employment Hero, Humanforce, Deputy, Qgenda and NetSuite — including data integrity checks and system reconciliations
* Partnering with the People & Culture team on the implementation of Time & Attendance and rostering in Employment Hero, including configuration, testing and go‐live support
* Responding to employee payroll queries promptly and professionally, and contributing to continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls
About You
You bring 5+ years' experience in a dedicated payroll position processing end‐to‐end payroll in a multi‐site or multi‐entity environment, with demonstrated strengths in award interpretation, GL reconciliation, leave accruals and salary accruals. You take ownership of the payroll function and pride yourself on accuracy, confidentiality and meeting every pay run deadline.
You have well developed Excel skills and are confident across the MS365 suite. You bring a strong working knowledge of PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, workers compensation and Single Touch Payroll, together with a solid understanding of the relationship between payroll, the general ledger, audit requirements and statutory reporting.
You demonstrate sound professional judgement, communicate clearly with both finance and non‐finance stakeholders, and take a proactive, hands‐on approach. You enjoy working collaboratively with People & Culture and bring experience contributing to system implementations, particularly Time & Attendance and rostering in Employment Hero. You are comfortable working in a fast‐paced environment and actively contributing to the delivery of an accurate and timely pay cycle.
You must have full work rights for Australia to be considered for this position.
