As Production Technician / Miller, you will work as part of a high performing team where you are responsible for maintaining and adjusting the milling equipment within each area of the Essantis Smeaton Mill.

Key Responsibilities (Production Technician / Miller):

* Production is monitored via the use of Mercury (Buhler software) or Supervising Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) which control our extensive array of production equipment.
* Production Technician / Millers are responsible for ensuring the optimal mixture, flow rate, moisture content and yield is achieved when processing oats from a raw state to product for human and animal consumption.
* This involves monitoring output and making appropriate adjustments to each piece of equipment as required and providing guidance to other team members including Assistant Millers and technicians.
* Interpreting PLC data for management production reports daily.
* Adjusting milling equipment, where required, based on the PLC data observed.
* Physically examining and testing the milling equipment to diagnose issues impacting production and subsequently proposing adjustments or modifications to the milling equipment to rectify any issues.
* Advising other staff members on correct operating procedures to ensure the milling equipment is operating efficiently and effectively.
* Working with the on-site Maintenance teams to repair and replace worn and defective parts of the milling equipment and then to subsequently test operate the repaired equipment.
* Working with Management and the Quality Managers to ensure the milling equipment's production is compliant with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and our Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan as well as organic, Halal and Kosher certification.
* This position works on a 24/7 rotating shift roster.

Essential:

* Demonstrated experience operating milling equipment and PLC systems, ideally within a grain processing environment.
* Proficient computer skills, including the ability to learn site-specific systems.
* Strong communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across shifts.
* A current Drivers Licence and your own reliable transport
* A strong commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
* Ability to perform the inherent requirements of the role, including tasks that involve manual handling.
* Ability to work safely in environments where dust is present, with appropriate protective equipment provided.
* Full work rights in Australia (citizen or permanent resident).

Desirable:

* Experience working in grain, flour or stock feed milling environments
* Sound knowledge of SQF and HACCP programs and the ability to apply these in daily operations.
* Forklift licence
