Operations & Customer Service Manager / Melbourne

Great opportunity open for an experienced Sea Freight Operations Supervisor to take on the next step into Management or a Manager looking for a "hands on" and passionate Manager, looking for a challenging role.

This is a role where you will lead a small team and take ownership of end-to-end freight forwarding operations while providing innovative logistical solutions to a wide range of customers. This is a critical role, working closely with the Managing Directors of the business.


Responsibilities

* Oversee a team and manage all aspects of export & import logistics, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company policies.
* Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, including customs, phytosanitary, and health certifications.
* Lead and mentor a team of operations and customers service staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
* Collaborate with clients, carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
* Proactively address and resolve logistical challenges to minimize delays and maintain product integrity.
* Monitor and manage budgets, negotiating with service providers to optimize costs while maintaining quality.
* Identify opportunities to enhance processes, implement best practices, and leverage technology to improve efficiency.


Qualifications & Requirements

* Proven experience in export & Import operations within Freight Forwarding, particularly in a leadership role.
* Experience in leading a team within either operations or customer service.
* Strong understanding of international shipping regulations and procedures.
* Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Proficiency in supply chain management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
* Knowledge of temperature-controlled logistics is highly desirable.
* Exposure across all facets of Freight Forwarding, including wharf cartage.
* Relevant qualifications in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field are advantageous.
