Primary objective
The Admin Support Officer, as part of the Data Systems team, will be responsible for ensuring student enrolments and
maintaining student data integrity is compliant with departmental requirements.
Context statement
The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to
students, resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE collaborates with home
schools, supporting educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. School staff
must be prepared to travel, use advanced online technologies, and work in both online and face-to-face modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Responsible for managing all student enrolments for NTSDE student, dual and non-dual.
2. Perform accurate data entry and retrieval of data from the Student Administration Management System (SAMS) and
other school data systems such as Compass and Timetabler, to ensure the integrity and currency of the database.
3. Provide administrative support to reception including answering calls, greeting visitors and managing general enquiries.
4. Use computer software packages to undertake word processing, data entry, and perform administrative and other tasks
as directed by the Data Systems Manager and Business Manager.
5. Work with the Data Systems team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to think proactively in a school environment, including preparing for peak periods such as enrolment
periods, coordinating administrative tasks and resources in advance.
2. Highly developed computer literacy skills, including experience using online databases for student enrolments such as,
SAMS and Microsoft Office applications.
3. Sound written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with people
from diverse cultures and work well with a wide range of people with tact and discretion.
4. Demonstrated organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure, complete tasks within required time frames,
exercise initiative and attention to detail.
5. Ability to monitor own performance and tasks against expected outcomes whilst in a busy, fast-paced work environment.
6. The selected applicant must hold a current NT Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) or the ability to obtain prior
to commencement.
