About The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Youth Health Worker to join our Metropolitan Youth Health - SPACE program team. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to engage and support young pregnant and parenting people, as well as vulnerable youth affected by domestic and family violence (DFV), to access and navigate specialised primary health care services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering 1:1 and group therapeutic interventions focused on the impacts of DFV and strengthening resilience through a trauma-informed, youth-centred approach. Additionally, they will coordinate and evaluate grant-funded programs and partnerships that empower young people and families to manage their health and wellbeing.
To be successful in this role, you will require a degree or equivalent qualification eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers. You will also need proven experience supporting young pregnant and parenting people, especially those impacted by DFV, from diverse cultural backgrounds and experiencing complex needs.
Key skills and qualifications include advanced communication and conflict management skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and skilled provision of trauma-informed, one-on-one and group therapeutic counselling and psychosocial support within a primary health care framework.
