THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for an experienced Business Manager, and who will thrive being part of a school that is evolving and expanding. Our Business Manager will be part of the administrative team, working closely together to ensure the school meets compliance requirements, and has efficient processes in place across a range of areas.

THE ROLE
- Job Title: Business Manager
- Time Fraction: 0.8 (4 days a week)
- Hours: 8.30am - 4.30pm
- Contract: General Staff
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
- Assist with the implementation of the strategic plan, as requested
- Assist with the preparation of the business plan and budget
- Assist with financial processes
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting
- Assist with financial audits
- Assist with finance policies and procedures
- Assist with the preparation of funding submissions and grant applications
- Provide communication of financial risks to leadership and board
- Provide recommendations for system / process enhancements
Risk and Compliance
- Keep up-to-date with current compliance requirements for the school
- Assist with commonwealth and state data submissions
- Assist with the audit and risk management processes
- Assist in the completion of data requested by governing authorities such as the School Board and VRQA.
- Assist with securing and applying of the school's insurance cover
Buildings and Grounds
- Coordinate the use and maintenance of school buildings, grounds and equipment
- Manage the maintenance schedule to ensure compliance standards are met
- Manage contracts and documentation for sub-contractors and service providers
- Assist in implementing induction programs for sub-contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance guidelines are followed
- Provide administrative support to sub-contractors and service providers
- Monitor and review performance of sub-contractors and service providers, providing recommendations if required
- Contribute to the school’s campus expansion plans
Marketing and Outreach
- Oversee the implementation of the school’s marketing strategy
- Manage the marketing budget effectively, allocating resources to maximize the impact
- Tracking and analysing marketing metrics to measure campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
- Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels and materials
- Assist with the management of digital campaigns, including social media and website content
- Generate creative ideas for brand promotion and campaign development
Human Resources
- Assist with the development of workforce planning, as requested
- Assist with the management of recruitment and induction procedures, as requested
- Manage the preparation of staff contracts and conditions
- Manage the development of work practices and procedures that ensure appropriate OHS standards are maintained
- Manage WorkSafe processes
General Administration
- Provide a required level of administrative support for school events, functions and projects
- Ensure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the principal and teaching staff
- Assist with the processing of admissions, registrations, enrolments and transfers
- Cover Front Office duties when when requested
Support School Board
- Draft reports and make recommendations to the school board, as requested
- Attend School Board meetings and the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meetings, and prepare relevant documents, as requested
Child Safety
- Be familiar with and comply with the schools Child Safe policies and procedures
- Assist in the provision of a child safe environment
ADDITIONAL SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
The Business Manager will demonstrate capacity to:
- Use Excel, Xero and Google Docs/Sheets
- Be organised and meet deadlines
- Be detail-oriented
- Work collaboratively, using the existing processes and frameworks
- Find solutions to problems
- Communicate respectfully and clearly (spoken and written text)
- Contribute to strategic planning and implementation
- Move rapidly while maintaining high quality performance
- Seek and use feedback to improve performance
The Business Manager will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or related field (required)
- Current Working With Children Check
- Experience in education setting (desirable)
