Description
Kavanagh Racing is seeking an experienced, hands-on Stable Foreperson / Stable Manager to lead day-to-day barn operations at our Flemington base.
This key leadership role in a proven, Group-1 winning stable with genuine scope to grow your responsibilities and influence results on race day.
What you'll do
* Lead the barn: roster, brief and mentor ground staff and track riders; set standards and hold the team accountable.
* Horse welfare & presentation: oversee feeding, grooming, exercise schedules and box management to the highest standard; maintain individual horse care plans.
* Health & compliance: daily trot-ups and soundness checks; record treatments; liaise with vets and farriers; ensure WHS/biosecurity protocols are followed.
* Programming & logistics: coordinate morning work, swimming, treadmill and rehab; manage race day gear; organise race-day staffing and float logistics.
* Records & communication: keep accurate work, meds and feed records (Prism or similar); provide clear updates to the trainer on progress, issues and targets.
* Young horse education: confidently handle, educate and improve manners of inexperienced horses.
* Race-day representation: present horses professionally; communicate with owners, officials and media as required.
What you'll bring
* Proven experience as a Stable Foreperson/Manager in a professional racing stable (min. 3 years).
* Strong leadership, people management and communication skills; calm under pressure.
* Deep knowledge of racehorse care, soundness, training routines and gear; confident handling colts and sharp horses.
* Outstanding organisation and attention to detail; proactive problem-solver.
* Tech-savvy with stable systems and accurate record-keeping.

Roster & compliance
