The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) has responsibility for health services in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region - a catchment area extending along the coastline from Helensburgh in the north to North Durras in the south with over 400,000 residents. This catchment covers four Local Government Areas (LGAs): Wollongong, Kiama, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven. ISLHD operates eight hospital sites in Coledale, Bulli, Wollongong, Port Kembla, Shellharbour, Berry, Shoalhaven and Milton Ulladulla, and community health services operating from approximately 58 locations across the region

This position is an opportunity for a dynamic Medical Oncologist to provide expert medical assessment and management of patients in the Cancer Care Service within the Wollongong and Shoalhaven areas.

The Staff Specialist will be part of a team responsible for the provision of specialist cancer care to inpatients, community, emergency patients, consults service and outpatients at both Illawarra Cancer Care and Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centres.

We are seeking an experienced Medical Oncologist with a focus on brain, breast, lung and genitourinary cancers. Experience in these sub-specialities and clinical trials research is highly desirable, as is the holding of an unrestricted provider number to allow billing of outpatients. The possibility of also managing patients with other tumour types will be determined according to the needs of the department and the expertise of the successful applicant.

The role is offered as a permanent 24 hour per week (0.6FTE), job share may be considered.

**Selection Criteria**
- Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with subspecialty training in Medical Oncology and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
- Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position and demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital.
- Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated commitment to the development of cancer services in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District and provision of services to the local community.
- Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated experience in and commitment to research relevant to the role and needs of the Department.
