Be part of a skilled maintenance team supporting a major rebuild and component replacement program at Carmichael Mine. This is a long-term, secure role for experienced Diesel Fitters who want strong earnings, structured rosters, and genuine stability.

The opportunity
MacKellar is delivering a large-scale Planned Component Replacement (PCR) and rebuild program on a fleet of Caterpillar 796 Electric Haul Trucks at Carmichael Mine.
This is a permanent site-based position within our maintenance division, where you’ll contribute directly to major machine rebuilds, component upgrades, and ongoing fleet performance across a key mining operation.
Key duties
* Complete strip-downs, inspections, rebuilds and installation of major components
* Perform planned maintenance and PCR work across haul truck fleet
* Carry out testing, commissioning and post-rebuild verification
* Diagnose faults and resolve mechanical and hydraulic issues
* Work collaboratively with maintenance and production teams to meet targets
* Ensure full compliance with site safety and operational procedures
About you
* Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter or Mobile Plant Mechanic
* Solid post-trade experience within mining or heavy industry environments
* Previous exposure to Caterpillar equipment, particularly large haul trucks (796 experience highly regarded)
* Experience with rebuilds, major component change-outs or PCR campaigns preferred
* Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving ability
* Current Standard 11 and valid driver’s licence
* Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
