The Emergency Department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead is excited to introduce a newly created Administration / Office Manager position. We are seeking a dynamic, highly organised and motivated leader to oversee the clerical operations of our busy department.
Working closely with the Nurse Manager and Medical Director of Emergency, this role will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership to a dedicated team of clerical staff, ensuring high-quality administrative support for patients, families and the clinical team. Previous experience in health administration, team leadership and people management will be highly regarded.
This is a full time permanent position working 38hours per week, Monday-Friday 0800-1630 (Times are negotiable).

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the Emergency Department (ED) Administration Manager (Health Services Manager Level 1) is to provide clear leadership and accountability for all clerical and administrative functions that support The Children's Hospital, Westmead ED. The Administration Manager will lead and support the clerical workforce, overseeing rostering, attendance, and performance while fostering professional development.
They will strengthen financial governance through accurate billing, revenue capture, and monthly reconciliation in line with NSW Health requirements. The position is also responsible for standardising office processes, developing procedural manuals, and coordinating asset management and supplies to improve efficiency. In addition, the role provides high-level administrative and executive support to the ED leadership team, including meeting coordination, report preparation, and assistance with quality improvement, research, and service redesign initiatives.

About You
We're looking for someone who:

* Has relevant tertiary qualifications in health administration, business management, human resources, or related discipline OR demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience in a healthcare or complex administrative environment.
* Demonstrates experience in leading and supervising clerical or administrative teams in a high-volume service environment.
* Proven skills in managing day-to-day office and business operations, including rostering, payroll coordination, and resource allocation.
