The Program
The Emergency Discovery Program provides a 6-month supported clinical program to Registered Nurses Year 2 or above who have little or no experience in emergency nursing. The aim is to develop foundation knowledge and clinical skills to practice safely and effectively in the emergency department. Specialists and preceptors provide clinical, educational and qualified support.
Participants will:
experience and practice emergency nursing in a supportive environment
gain the foundation knowledge and skills for working in emergency nursing
develop competency in essential emergency clinical skills and management of adult and paediatric patients
participate in supernumerary orientation days and three educational study days
The program will offer varied learning opportunities and support the development of core skills to enable safe delivery of care in the emergency department.
Responsibilities / What you will do
Complete a six-month structured clinical program in emergency nursing.
Develop knowledge and practical skills for emergency department care under supervision.
Engage in clinical teaching, assessments and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Requirements
Registered Nurse with acute nursing experience.
Willingness to complete clinical hurdles and assessments; summative appraisal on completion of the program.
